Ever wonder how Sanderlin’s got started?
52 years ago Ed Sanderlin was a traveling salesman for Park Seed Company. He would bring Judy home seeds to plant just because she loved flowers. Before they knew it, they owed Park Seed $600! That was a lot of money for them! They didn’t have the money to pay the bill so Ed told her she had to try to sell the flowers. Judy loaded her car with the plants she had grown and went to Augusta to “beg” the hardware store downtown to buy her flowers. Mr. Simpkins at Simpkins Feed & Seed was her first customer. And I guess you can say…the rest is history! Greenhouse after greenhouse was built and Sanderlin Greenhouses was born!
In 1974, Judy was featured on the cover of Park Seed catalog in one of her first greenhouses. Her succulents, which she is still famous for, were also featured in the catalog. Ed was soon able to quit his salesman job and join Judy in this fabulous business they started by accident. Sanderlin’s has helped them make a living for their family for many years. Eddy and Abby now help Judy run the greenhouses. You are also certain to see their grandchildren and their great grandchild running around enjoying the business too.
We have been very blessed in our 46 years of business and we have our great customers to thank for that. Thank you for your continued loyalty to Sanderlin Greenhouses!
